Erie Steelhead, Top to Bottom presented by PF&T Head Guide Ben John

Join us September 24, at 7pm, for our General Membership Meeting for a presentation by Ben John on Erie Steelhead! Ben will discuss fishing for Steelhead, from preparation to catching this prize Pennsylvania fish. As a guide, Ben spends countless hours researching and knowing the best places, equipment and flies to tempt these prize catches. He has a wealth of knowledge on this dynamic angling resource.

The preparation discussion will feature tips on fishing gear, line, leaders, tippet and flies. Erie weather is very unpredictable, so Ben has suggestions on what to bring and how to dress.

Stream conditions can also be a challenge so wading tips, access locations and maybe a few areas to consider when fishing these waters. Ben will discuss the various techniques he uses to spot feeding ”Steelies” and why he may pass over a pod of migrating fish and concentrate on smaller runs and riffles.

For those of you who have not joined us at the Community Club at Fort Indiantown Gap, please be assured this is an excellent meeting location. We are in a large private room, adjacent to the bar and grill; so many of our attendees arrive early for burgers, beer and conversation before the program begins at 7:00pm. This year’s Chapter President, Chuck Swanderski, runs an excellent meeting. Nice and tight, and operating on the SOT squared formula – start on time and stop on time. Non-members are invited to attend!

NOTE: There is a newly-constructed main gate now operational at Ft. Indiantown Gap. To access the Community Club for our meetings, take exit 85B north on Rt. 934 (Fisher Road) from I-81 to the main gate. After checking in at the security station, the road winds around to a traffic light where you take a right and continue north on Fisher Road. The Community Club is located on the left just before the intersection with Clement Road.
