DFTU Participates in Casting for Recovery

Founded in 1996, Casting for Recovery (CfR) provides healing outdoor retreats for women with breast cancer, at no cost to the participants. CfR’s retreats offer opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life, and experience healing connections with other women and nature. Casting for Recovery’s innovative program focuses on improving the quality of life for women with breast cancer and has garnered endorsements from medical and psychosocial experts nationwide.

Over the last several years the Doc Fritchey Chapter of TU has donated to the Casting for Recovery Program. This year we sent our check along with Chuck Swanderski – our DFTU VP – to the Eastern PA program. Chuck was one of the “River Guides” for the on-stream portion of this special event at the Sky Top Lodge in Sky Top, PA.

Chuck’s comment was …

“I was humbled and honored to be a part of this program for the courageous women who have had to face breast cancer. Although I shared my knowledge and skills of fly fishing, I observed and learned a great lesson in life.”
