On a drizzly Saturday morning, Rocky Powell of Clear Creeks Consulting and Russ Collins, DFTU’s Conservation Officer, led twelve DFTU members on a tour of the completed restoration work on Snitz and Beck creeks, both tributaries of Quittapahilla Creek. Members were treated to an inside look at the design process behind these projects, and got to see first hand the results of these restored streams. As Powell explained, these completed projects will reduce the amount of sediment flowing into the Quittie, reduce bank erosion, deal with flooding more effectively and in same cases, reduce nutrient runoff, such as nitrogen.
Thank you to Rocky Powell for the instructive tour and the work put into these projects. And thank also to Russ Collins for organizing the tour and also for the work put in to secure grants that make this type of work possible.
