This year’s Dr. Frank Viozzi Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Brock Troutman, a senior at Upper Dauphin High School who lives in Lykens and plans to attend Mansfield University to major in Fisheries Science.
Brock is a member of the National Honor Society with a 3.74 GPA. In addition to his academic achievements, he served as captain of both the high school basketball team and baseball team.
Brock started raising trout with his brother and developed quite an interest in it. In his junior and senior years, he raised tilapia and trout and kept detailed logs about the fish growth, water quality, and the environment. From these experiences, he realized that he would like to pursue a career studying the impact of the environment on waterways and the fish population.
This annual scholarship was established in 2013 to honor the memory and many contributions to our chapter by Dr. Frank Viozzi who passed away in 2011 after serving as president of DFTU for 7 years. The scholarship is managed and administered by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC).
