Our July General Membership Meeting Guest Speaker – Chris Cleaver

July 28, 2026 7pm to 9pm

Fishing Yellowstone 101 to 401

We invite you to our July 28th General Membership Meeting, where our guest presenter is former Doc Fritchey TU president Chris Cleaver. Chris was at the helm of our organization for four years in the early 90s, was instrumental in naming the chapter after Doc Fritchey and establishing the special regulation water on the Quitty.

Chris and his wife, Jane, spent the last two years living and working in Yellowstone National Park. Chris worked on his culinary techniques and fly fishing prowess while his wife enhanced sewing skills in the uniform department.

Last year, Yellowstone officials opened portions of two streams to year-round fishing. Cleaver claims Winter is the best time to fish – as long as there is no wind and it’s above zero! He also mentioned that their housing in the park was on the junction of the Yellowstone and Gardiner Rivers. A short walk with a loaded fly rod – sometimes in waist deep snow.

His presentation is a “101 to 401” overview of fishing in the park. Expanding regulations, longer seasons, gear recommendations and stream insights are all part of the program!

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Every person coming to the meeting must present a photo ID at the entrance security gate at Ft. Indiantown Gap Base, and you must have something showing that you are coming for the Doc Fritchey TU meeting. Showing them this online posting will suffice.

NOTE: The restaurant/bar at Ft. Indiantown Gap Base will be open at the Arrowhead Lounge before the meeting for anyone who wishes to purchase food and/or drink.
