Join us on March 26 for our Annual Membership Meeting beginning at 7pm, in the Community Club at Fort Indiantown Gap. We will be holding DFTU’s Board Officers and Directors Election. Also, the Gerald L. Miller Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented, along with our “Passing of the Net.”
Our meeting presentation will be given by George Fallon on successful fly fishing of wild Brook Trout. George has been a resident of Philadelphia for his entire life. Fly fishing became his passion in the early 90s. Like most residents of Philly, he started fishing stocked streams until someone introduced him to wild trout opportunities throughout the state. George fished all over the state for wild browns, rainbows, and brook trout. While finding enjoyment in catching big browns and bows, brookies stole his heart. George has found many little fished wild brook trout streams in eastern and central PA. He developed his style for success and loves to share his knowledge with anyone he shares the water with.
In 2020, George retired from over 40 years in inventory management to really start to explore as many wild Brook Trout streams as possible. He will visit streams from the Class A list, the Natural Reproduction list, as well as streams he may just drive by and think, hmm. When not on the water, George volunteers with the American Red Cross as Blood Drive Ambassador and ironically enough, as the regional inventory lead for SEPA disaster operations.
George has recently developed a wild Brook Trout presentation that he can present to local TU chapters or fishing clubs. His passion for fishing, catching and protecting these beautiful fish and their habitat is difficult to match.
For those of you who have not joined us at the Community Club at Fort Indiantown Gap, please be assured this is an excellent meeting location. We are in a large private room, adjacent to the bar and grill; so many of our attendees arrive early for burgers, beer, and conversation before the program begins at 7:00pm. This year’s Chapter President, Chuck Swanderski, runs an excellent meeting. Nice and tight, and operating on the SOT squared formula – start on time and stop on time. Non-members are invited to attend!
NOTE: There is a newly-constructed main gate now operational at Ft. Indiantown Gap. To access the Community Club for our meetings, take exit 85B north on Rt. 934 (Fisher Road) from I-81 to the main gate. After checking in at the security station, the road winds around to a traffic light where you take a right and continue north on Fisher Road. The Community Club is located on the left just before the intersection with Clement Road.
