On May 11th, I had the opportunity to meet at a site on Snitz Creek with two property owners who would like to have a stream restoration project done on their stream reach. At the same time, I invited State Senator Chris Gebhard to tour this site as an example of a “before” and followed this with a visit to Quitty Creek Nature Park as an “after” restoration example.
In our conversation, I brought up the need for funding for these critical conservation efforts. At present, there are two bills (SB 832 and SB 525) on the table in the Senate Appropriations Committee of which Senator Gebhard is a member. Between the two bills, $750,000,000 was proposed to fund conservation and green infrastructure projects through the Growing Greener III and The Clean Streams bill.
