Beginner Fly Tying

Learn to tie your very own flies before spring fly fishing starts!

DFTU fly-tying mentors teach a beginner’s fly-tying course. Membership in PSA or TU are not required.

  • Classes will run for six consecutive Thursdays, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association Clubhouse, 410 Sportsman’s Road, Annville, PA.
  • Bring your own vise and tools; or you may purchase a complete tool kit for $70 that will be available at the first class. The kit will include everything you need for the class and for tying at home. 
  • Materials for each fly pattern will be provided.

2024 Beginner Fly Tying Registration

DFTU's Beginner Fly Tying Course will be hosted at the Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association Clubhouse starting on Thursday February 1st, 2024. Classes will start at 6:00 p.m. and continue each Thursday night until March 7th.

Registration for the Beginner's Fly Tying course is a one-time fee. Memberships in either Trout Unlimited or Palmyra Sportsmans Association are NOT required in order to attend.
Price: $40.00
Registrants must be 16 years of age or older. Eligible students will be accepted on a first-paid basis.
Optional Extra
This optional kit is designed for first time tyers. If purchased, the kit will be available at the first class and includes all materials needed to tie patterns in the course.
